14 Recipes from 2014

Hi guys!  I thought I'd do a recipe recap like I did last year (see the recipes from 2013 her e). It's funny how I've forget what I've posted about.  After looking through these recipes that I've loved enough to blog about, I'm feeling hungry.  I loved all of these recipes and my family did too. 1.   Homemade Maple Syrup .   I made some this morning.  It's the only syrup I really love! 2.   A Little Sweet and Salty Granola.   I made this again last month and enjoyed every bite.   3.   The Best Whole Wheat Bread Ever!   It's still my favorite whole wheat bread recipe.  Still only takes less than two hours to bake.  And it still is DELICIOUS warm from the freezer.   . 4.  Lemon Pudding Cake .  Making this again next Easter! 5.   Slow Cooker Kalua Pork .  This is in our regular Sunday dinner rotation,  Takes two minutes prep and the crockpot does the rest.  So easy ...

Friday Favorite...Make Ahead Turkey Meatballs for Three Different Meals!

Is it a crazy time of year at your house?  It is at mine!  Only two of my four kids are involved in sports, but we have something almost every night.  Of course, practices and games are usually around dinner time.  Dinner needs to be quick, so I can make it right after school while I help the kids with their homework.  Or needs to be something that I can make in advance.  Sometimes it needs to be portable too and easy to eat in the car when we have to drive 20 minutes to practice. One of my most favorite meals is these turkey meatballs .  They are made with extra lean ground turkey   that I buy at Sam's Club and they are stuffed full with veggies, but my kids haven't ever noticed.  The seasonings are delicious!  I seriously, love making these meatballs because they smell so good even when they're raw! I usually make five pounds of ground turkey into meatballs and bake them....

Company Worthy Food

I love it when family and friends come to visit.  Since we live away from all of our family, when family comes and visits they usually stay for a few days.  This means that I usually pull out my family's favorite recipes and start cooking. Here's a few of our favorites that we made when my sister was visiting last week:   Orange Chicken -- since we don't have a Panda Express we make our own (I like it just as much)   Teriyaki Burgers (you can make one hour rolls instead of buying buns)  My favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies Breakfast Burritos -- a trip to New Mexico isn't the same without a breakfast burrito Green Chili Bagel Sandwiches   BBQ Chicken Pizza   Swedish Meatballs And my favorite thing that we made was... homemade vanilla ice cream (with homemade hot fudge). What are your favorite foods to feed your guests?

Friday Favorite...French Bread

Happy Friday everyone!  I wanted to share with you one of my favorite recipes...just in case you missed it.    French Bread!     Seriously, this is the best french bread I've ever made.  It's actually the only bread that I make anymore.  We use it for sandwiches for dinner, or just slice it and eat it with soup.  The recipe is super easy.  I don't think I've ever made a bad loaf.    Here's the link to the recipe post (now with a printable recipe link).  Bear with me while I gradually add printable recipe links to my recipes.  I wish I had more time to do them all at once.    Have a great weekend!

Thursday Favorite...Crockpot Chicken Stew

I couldn't wait until Friday to post this, so it's not a "Friday Favorite" post.  It's a "Thursday Favorite." Recently, I made one of my favorite crockpot dishes, chicken stew . This is a recipe that I've been making for years, since I was a teenager. I used to make it for my family in my dad's dutch oven. It would bake while we were away at church for three hours. When we got home it would be done and was delicious! Now I make it in my crockpot (or in my oven if I'm going to be home -- I'm a little nervous about having my gas oven on while I'm not at home).  It's easy, just a few minutes of prep work and then dinner is done a few hours later. I made this using our new red potatoes from our garden.  They were delicious!  My kids actually liked them, maybe since they had to water them all summer. Here is the recipe from a post a few years ago .  Spend a few minutes mixing up some one hour rolls and your family will be ha...

Friday Favorite

Since it's Friday I wanted to share with you one of my most FAVORITE meals ever!  You make a big batch and can make several different things with it.  It is...   TURKEY MEATBALLS ! I make a whole cookie sheet worth of meatballs (2 lbs of turkey).  Then we eat some and freeze the rest.   We make these fabulous MEATBALL SANDWICHES with them. A little meatball, spaghetti sauce and provolone cheese on bolillo rolls (from Walmart).  Yummo! Or we make SWEET and SOUR MEATBALLS Whip up a simple sweet and sour sauce of cranberry sauce, chili sauce and ketchup and serve over rice.  Yummo (again)! Or just add some meatballs to your SPAGHETTI. I love it when I have ziploc bags filled with these meatballs in my freezer.  Quick and easy meals ready to go!
