We love tacos of all kinds at our house. Every once in a while we make Navajo tacos. Warm chewy scones (or frybread) piled high with taco toppings.
The tricky part is deciding how to get it into your mouth -- pick it up or use a fork. Either way is delicious!
Navajo Tacos
Ingredients:
Ingredients:

Frybread (Scones)
Ingredients:
- 3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 Tbsp. baking powder
- warm water, about 1 1/4 c.
Mix flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl. Add enough warm water to make a soft dough. Knead for several minutes. Pat or roll into round flat circles. Fry in very hot oil until light brown. Turn over and fry the other side until light brown. Set scones on a plate with paper towels in between them. Keep warm.
Taco Toppings
Ingredients:
- taco meat (ground beef or turkey)
- black beans
- cheddar cheese, shredded
- lettuce, chopped
- tomatoes, chopped
- olives, sliced
- salsa
- guacamole
- sour cream
Brown ground beef or turkey in frying pan. Add a little water and season meat with taco seasoning (I like to use this homemade recipe). Add black beans to taco meat and let simmer while prepping other toppings.
Top frybread with taco meat and other toppings. Enjoy!
