Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

This creamy chicken and wild rice soup is now one of my new favorite soups.  My five year old son asked if he could have some for lunch at school the next day.  That's saying a lot!

The recipe is from Mel's Kitchen Cafe, so hop on over there and check it out.

The only thing that I did differently than in her recipe is the rice.  The recipe called for 2 c. wild rice.  I didn't have any wild rice and didn't want to pay $6 for a tiny container.  So instead, I bought some Near East Long Grain and Wild Rice mix.  I cooked it up without the seasoning mix and added it to the soup.  This made the soup thick and yummy!

I will be making it again soon!

  1. I tried a creamy chicken and wild rice recipe last fall from Pinterest and it was just OK. I will definitely be trying yours. Did you put the slivered almonds in it?
