Homemade Ranch Dressing

I went to Smith's today to buy some ranch dressing to put on our salads for dinner tonight.  The ranch dressing that I usually buy wasn't on sale.  I decided instead of paying $2.99 for a bottle of ranch, that I'd spend $2.19 on a quart of buttermilk and make my own.  It's cheap and makes a lot! And most importantly, it's delicious!

Ranch Dressing
recipe from my brother-in-law's mom, Becky Jones

1 quart mayonnaise (I use light)
1 quart buttermilk
2 tsp. onion salt
1 tsp. garlic salt
2 tsp. Accent salt
2 tsp. parsley flakes
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 tsp. salt

Mix well.  Chill before serving.

Makes a lot!  I usually half it.

  1. Jenny,
Do you know how long it keeps in the fridge? Do you like the taste better? I want to try this because I don't like most bottled Ranch dressings!

  2. My exact same question! How long does it keep?

  3. I think it should keep a week or two (depending on what the expiration of your buttermilk is). Mine expires 10 days after I made the dressing, so I tried to use it up by then. If you half the recipe, then you don't have so much that might go to waste.
