Sewing with Kids - Baby Dinosaur

My nine year old daughter has been asking me to teach her how to sew.  I saw this cute stegosaurus dinosaur on Pinterest and we decided to make it for our baby brother. I took all of my kids to Hobby Lobby and we picked out some fabric and ribbon.  It doesn't take much fabric, so this would be a great way to use up your scraps.  I didn't have any "boy" fabric, so we bought some. We used the free pattern that I found on The First of Mae blog ,  It was super simple and only took 20 minutes tops.  My daughter helped me sew it.  Then she stuffed the dinosaur with batting.  I hand stitched the rest of it, then we gave to the baby.

Make a Little Purse

Okay, I know this is my food blog, but I just spent two hours making a little purse for my almost-eight-year-old daughter's friend's birthday present.  Maybe if I blog about what I just did then it will be like I accomplished more today... I'm not the best seamstress and I get pretty frustrated when I sew.  I usually have some kind of sewing machine threading mishap that causes me almost to curse and throw my machine (I said almost...I didn't really throw my sewing machine).  But I figure, that the more that I sew the better I'll get.  I'm fortunate to be surrounded by very talented people that can sew, like my sister, my sister-in-laws, my friends,my mom and my mother-in-law. My friend, Megan, is super talented and has made my kids the best gifts for their birthdays and for me too.  She's made superhero capes, doll clothes, pillow w/a book pocket, and a car track roll (like a crayon roll), etc..  Anyway...my daughter was invited to a birthday party tom...
